Emergency Response
Emergency Roof Repair in Madison and Dane County
Active leak, storm-torn section, or tree impact on your roof? Call (608) 925-3576. We tarp same-day where it's safe, then come back to do the permanent fix once the weather lets us work.
What counts as an emergency

Active leaks into the home
Water entering the attic or living space during or after a storm. Every hour the water keeps coming, the interior damage compounds.
Storm-torn sections
Wind has lifted or removed enough shingles that the underlayment or decking is exposed. The next rain will turn this into an active leak.
Tree impacts
Limb or whole tree on the roof, with visible structural damage to shingles, decking, or framing.
Failed flashing after a storm
Chimney, skylight, or plumbing vent flashing torn loose. The roof itself may look fine but water is finding the gap.
What we do when you call

Step one is a call back from someone who can actually help — not an answering service. We'll ask what you're seeing, when it started, and what the weather has been like. If it sounds like an active emergency we're on the way the same day where it's safe to be on a roof.
Step two is the tarp. We secure tarps over the affected area to stop water entry while we plan the permanent repair. A tarp isn't a fix — it's a holding action while we figure out scope, get materials, and wait for a weather window. Defender Shield members move to the front of the line on emergency response.
Step three is the repair. Once the weather lets us work, we come back, pull the tarp, do the permanent fix, and document everything. If the cause was storm damage, we hand you the photos and scope you'll need for an insurance claim.
Frequently asked questions
- How fast can you get here?
- Most emergency calls in Madison and Dane County get a same-day or next-morning tarping during normal weather. After major regional storm events, expect 24–72 hours — we triage by severity, with active interior leaks first. Defender Shield members get a 24-hour callback guarantee even during peak demand.
- What does emergency tarping cost?
- Tarping is typically $300–$600 depending on roof size, pitch, and access. Defender Shield members get tarping included as part of the post-storm response. Permanent repair cost is quoted separately after we can see the underlying damage.
- What should I do before you arrive?
- Get out from under the leak — move furniture, valuables, and electronics. Put a bucket where the water is coming in. Do not climb on the roof. Take ground-level photos of any visible damage; they help with insurance claims later.
- Is emergency damage covered by insurance?
- Storm-related damage usually is — wind, hail, ice, falling trees. Wear-and-tear failures aren't. We document every emergency call so you have a complete record if you decide to file. See the storm damage page for the claims process.
