Roof Repair in Madison and Dane County

Missing shingles, flashing failures, leaks around penetrations, and storm damage. We diagnose the cause first, then fix it — so the same spot doesn't fail again.

When a repair is the right call

Roofs fail in a lot of places before they fail as a system. A repair makes sense when the underlying material has years of service left, the damage is localized, and the cause is fixable without disturbing the rest of the roof.

  • Localized wind damage

A few lifted or missing shingles after a wind event. We replace the affected area and re-seal the surrounding shingles.

  • Flashing failures

Around chimneys, skylights, plumbing vents, and sidewalls. The shingles around them are usually fine — the flashing itself is what's leaking.

  • Leaks around penetrations

Boots split with age, sealant cracks, attic vents come loose. Targeted repair restores the seal without touching the field of the roof.

  • Storm and hail damage

When damage is contained to one slope or one area. Insurance often covers these — see the storm damage page for the claims process.

When repair stops being the right call

Sometimes the honest answer is that repair is throwing money at a roof that's about to fail anyway. We'll tell you straight when that's the situation. The signs we look for: granule loss across the whole field (not just one slope), curling or cupping shingles in multiple areas, multiple leak points, a roof past 20 years old in Wisconsin's climate. At that point, replacement is the better spend.

How we diagnose

Every repair starts with a physical inspection — we get on the roof, find the cause, photograph it, and write up what we found. We don't quote repairs sight-unseen and we don't replace shingles without understanding why they failed in the first place.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a roof repair cost?
Most targeted repairs in Madison run $400–$1,200. Complex repairs involving flashing replacement, decking, or multiple leak sources can run $1,500–$3,500. Free inspection with a written estimate before any work starts.
Will the repaired area match my existing shingles?
We do our best to match — same manufacturer, same color, same profile when we can source it. Older shingles fade over time, so the new ones will look slightly brighter for the first year. On highly visible slopes we'll talk through whether to repair or to re-shingle the whole slope to keep the appearance uniform.
How long do roof repairs take?
Most localized repairs are 2–4 hours. Bigger repairs involving flashing, multiple penetrations, or decking can take a full day. We schedule weather windows carefully — no roof repair during rain.
Do repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Two-year workmanship warranty on the repair itself. The surrounding existing roof keeps whatever warranty it already had — we don't void it by working on it.
